Introducing Innovative Printmaker Thomas Bewick

Instructor: Professor Betsy Boone (History of Art, Design, and Visual Culture)

Description: Thomas Bewick (1753-1828) was an innovative illustrator of books who revived the traditional wood engraving technique and produced some of the most beautiful natural history images of his time. Join Professor Boone in the Peel classroom to examine early editions of Bewick’s most important works, including A General History of Quadrupeds (1791) and A History of British Birds (1805). 

This in-person workshop is open to the University of Alberta community.
