Publishing Formats Through the Ages

Instructor: Sarah Severson (Bruce Peel Special Collections).

Description: This workshop offers the opportunity to consider the impact of a wide variety of print formats, from tablets and scrolls to horn books and broadsides and from triple deckers and artists’ books to miniatures and elephant folios. Participants will have the opportunity to examine a wide variety of material elements — such as size, format, images, typography, etc.— in order to draw their own conclusions about the ways in which the medium both does and does not change the impact and meaning of text and images.

This online workshop is open to the University of Alberta community.
