Large Language Models in the Home Kitchen: Introduction to the Ecosystem

Large Language Models in the Home Kitchen: Introduction to the Ecosystem

Generative AI is here, for better or worse. We are most familiar with the hosted services like ChatGPT, but it is also possible to run a Large Language Model on a home workstation or laptop. This session will introduce you to how to install them, where to get them, and what you can do with them.

Objective:  You will be introduced to the process for installing and running an LLM on your machine, and how to pass prompts to it to generate text. You gain familiarity with the different types and their uses, questions of rights, and the risks and ethical issues in using these resources
