IIIF for Research: Introduction to the Ecosystem

IIIF for Research: Introduction to the Ecosystem

IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) is a set of services you can deploy and use for sharing images and other resources in a rich online environment. It is increasingly common for digitized resources like medieval manuscripts or scientific images. If you know how to spot IIIF-enabled resources you can use them  for rich interactions beyond what the website designer provided.
Objective: You will gain an understanding of the parts of a IIIF service, how to recognize them and how to capture and use them. You will be introduced to a variety of services that use IIIF for a variety of tasks including images with deep zoom, AV presentation, and online shared annotation of images and AV.
