Document Photography for Archival Research
Researchers often need to visit archives as part of their process. This workshop will help to prepare archival researchers to maximize the limited time in a library or archive. This requires some expertise in photography, capturing high-quality images of documents, and of management techniques for digital content, to ensure the information is usable.
The workshop will cover technical knowledge of recording devices such as cameras and peripheral tools that may aid in capturing information for later use. We will discuss policies researchers will likely encounter in archives. Finally, we will present Tropy, a research application for managing digital photographs and their metadata, within their archival context.
What participants need: participants are free to bring a laptop to follow along with the Tropy demo, but it is not required.
This workshop is being held in person at the Digital Scholarship Centre on the 2nd floor of Cameron Library.
