Research Communications: Design & Presentation
Presentations and posters are the bread and butter of research communications, and they customarily involve the creation of presentation materials. Quite often in the hurry to create these materials, we overlook visual and aesthetic elements that, in this visual world, are essential to stand apart and make our work memorable. This workshop will focus on the design and creation of presentation materials both in digital and print formats. We will cover basic design principles and explore tools that can help with picking colours, typefaces, and creative commons photos. Demos of select graphic editing tools (free and paid) will also be included.
What participants need: The workshop will include demos of some design software such as Adobe Indesign and Illustrator, Figma, and Canva but no software is necessary to attend. Participants may want to bring a laptop to follow along with some of the web-based tools.
